Working Group 1 Early Analysis System (EAS)

This group will analyze the data from Peruvian seismic networks, where Japanese and Peruvian researchers will collaborate in order to increase the window of time to trigger the alert prior to the earthquake’s waves arrival to the target area. Several scenarios of earthquakes are generated to identify patterns of P-waves to trigger the alert in the target area.

Working Group 2 Infrastructure: Structures, Lifelines, Roads (SLR)

Propose a Peruvian damage intensity scale based on the current infrastructure typology of structures, lifelines, and roads, due to the much higher structural vulnerability in Lima City. The information produced by this group will be an input for the decision- makers to manage the disaster attention to expend efficiently the public economical resources.

Working Group 3 Disaster Information Technology (DIT)

Upgrade the existing GIS platform with infrastructure inventory. The existing database will be upgraded with complementary information and integrated into the new developed platform. CONIDA will provide satellite imagery.

Working Group 4 Disaster Risk Management (DRM)

Generated information by the integrated expert system is used to help the decision- makers to take the efficient countermeasures to reduce the disaster risks during the emergency preparedness and disaster response.
